This is the best “7805” you can get. Pin-compatible to the monolithic 7805 LDO regulator, delivers 5V and 1A max. current with an input voltage of 6.5 to 40V DC and a conversion efficiency of up to 90%. No other “7805” LDO can handle input voltage up to 40V DC, and does not even need a heat sink under full load.

The DC-DC synchronous rectification step-down module has high conversion efficiency and low heat generation. Input DC5.5-32V, stable output 5V 1A long-term work, no need to add heat. The pin is compatible with the LM7805 three-terminal regulator block and can be directly replaced.

 

Why should you replace your 7805 LDO voltage regulators with this switching voltage regulator:

Example 1
Your input voltage is 12V, and the 5V circuit you want to power up takes 500mA.
With the standard LDO 7805 monolithic TO-220 regulator, the heat dissipation is exactly (12V-5V) * 0.5A = 3.5W, which already requires a heat sink.
With the new switching regulator, the heat dissipation is less than 0.5W.

Example 2
Your input voltage is 24V, and the 5V circuit you want to power up takes 750mA.
With the standard LDO 7805 monolithic TO-220 regulator, the heat dissipation is exactly (24V-5V) * 0.75A = 14.25W, which already requires a big heat sink, and maybe a cooling fan.
With the new switching regulator, the heat dissipation is just about 0.7W.

The step-down regulator comes with over-temperature shut off, under-voltage and short circuit protection.

The switching frequency is with 550kHz pretty high, what makes the small size of the device possible.

This regulator is pin-compatible with L7805, LM7805 and other TO-220 7805 LDOs.
